Growing up in an Italian family, food was more than just nourishment—it was the heart of every gathering, with my grandmother being the glue that held us together. The kitchen was my sanctuary, a place where I found peace and joy amid the lively chaos of family life. This early connection to food sparked a deep love for creativity and innovation, especially when I saw how my cooking could bring smiles and moments of awe to those around me. This passion set me on a path that would shape my entire career in the hospitality industry.

Finding Serenity and Creativity in the Kitchen
In my childhood home my grandmother was cooking, meals were a daily celebration. The kitchen was always filled with the aromas of fresh herbs, simmering sauces, and baking bread. Watching my family come together around the table inspired me to explore cooking as an art form. I loved experimenting with flavors and presentation, always aiming to surprise and delight.
This creative process became my way to express myself. Seeing someone’s face light up after tasting a dish I made was incredibly rewarding. It showed me how food could connect people and create lasting memories. This early experience taught me that hospitality is not just about serving food—it’s about creating moments that matter.
Growing Into Leadership Roles
As my skills in the kitchen grew, so did my desire to take on more responsibility. I began stepping into leadership roles, guiding teams and managing kitchen operations. These experiences taught me valuable lessons about teamwork, communication, and problem-solving under pressure.
Leading a kitchen is about more than just managing tasks. It’s about inspiring others to bring their best to the table and fostering an environment where creativity and collaboration thrive. I found great satisfaction in helping others develop their skills and confidence, which eventually shifted my passion toward mentorship.

Shifting Focus to Mentorship and Career Growth
Helping others grow became a driving force in my career. I realized that my impact could extend beyond the kitchen by supporting the careers of those around me. Mentoring young chefs and hospitality workers gave me a new sense of purpose. I enjoyed sharing knowledge, offering guidance, and watching people succeed.
This shift also opened my eyes to the challenges many face in the hospitality industry. It’s a demanding field with long hours and high stress, but it also offers incredible opportunities for growth and creativity. I wanted to create resources and support systems that could help people navigate their careers more effectively.
Creating Hangry Chefs to Support Restaurants During COVID
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the hospitality industry faced unprecedented challenges. Many restaurants were on the brink of closing their doors. I knew I had to act. That’s when I founded Hangry Chefs, a mission-driven initiative focused on helping restaurants survive during this crisis.
We worked closely with numerous restaurants, offering support without expecting payment from many of them. Our goal was to keep these businesses afloat and preserve the jobs and communities they supported. This experience reinforced my belief in the power of community and collaboration in hospitality.

Rebranding to Vanguard Food & Beverage Thynk Tank
Recently, we rebranded Hangry Chefs to Vanguard Food & Beverage Thynk Tank. Our focus has expanded to education and ongoing support for the hospitality industry. We provide a free industry blog that helps restaurant and hotel owners, as well as workers, stay informed and make better decisions.
Vanguard acts as a corporate food and beverage team on demand for small to mid-size businesses. This approach allows these businesses to compete with larger chains without the burden of annual overhead costs. Our goal is to strengthen the hospitality community by offering practical, accessible support.

Achievements and Contributions to the Industry
Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to achieve several milestones that reflect my commitment to hospitality:
Winning culinary competitions that challenged and refined my skills.
Being featured in publications and cooking shows such as Chef’s Kitchen and Happenings Magazine.
Partnering with Saint Luke’s Hospitality to create a cooking show focused on healthy eating.
Serving on the board of directors for the Pennsylvania Restaurant & Lodging Association (PRLA).
Acting as a spoke chef for #Fair Kitchens, an initiative by Unilever promoting healthier work environments in kitchens.
Authoring two books: Mastering The Art of Hotel F&B and Viral Bites & Sips From Around The World. We even created an interactive game that makes learning about global cuisine fun and engaging.
Being featured in the Pocono Record article titled “Chef On Fire,” highlighting my journey and passion.
Each of these experiences has deepened my understanding of the industry and strengthened my desire to support others.
Supporting the Hospitality Community
At Vanguard, our mission is clear: support the hospitality community by providing education, resources, and hands-on assistance. We believe small and mid-size businesses deserve the same level of expertise and support as larger chains. By acting as their corporate food and beverage team on demand, we help them improve operations, innovate menus, and grow their teams.
